I made this activity because I have many students working on categories! I wanted a new engaging activity to target this skill. This activity would go great with any food theme! Kids love pizza so this activity is sure to get their attention! I used easily recognizable and functional vocabulary in this activity!
Now includes a FREE large version! I had requests for a bigger version for students with vision and fine motor difficulties (a feedback addition!) The large version has full page boards and the regular version has 1/2 page boards.
I made this for speech therapy but you could also use it in prek/k or in special education classrooms!
What is included in this download:
• 10 Category Pizza Boards and their Toppings (5 toppings per board).
• It also includes an easy cut/card version of the toppings for a lower prep option (no velcro needed).
• 1 Set of Name the Category Cards (27 cards)
• 1 Set of Name Items in a Category Cards (27 cards)
• 2 Color/Craft Pages (Color-A-Pizza and Design-A-Pizza)
• 4 Pizza Go-Together Worksheets (No-Prep)
• 4 Category Matching Worksheets (No-Prep)
► Category Pizza Boards: Have the students sort the toppings onto the correct pizza boards. You can customize this activity to your student’s needs (doing one or more boards at a time). You can also increase the level of difficulty by putting more topping choices in front of the student at at time. Two option: using velcro toppings or just placing the topping cards on the pizzas.
► Card Decks: The Name the Category cards require the student to look at the pictures and tell you the category. The Name Items in a Category cards require the student to name 3 objects in the category listed (I put three pizzas on these cards to cue them to name all 3).
► Color/Design a Pizza. Have your student color a pizza at the end of the activity for a fun wrap up of the lesson. You could also make this a following directions or color identification activity too! The Design-A-Pizza page is an open canvas for the student to draw, paint, or glue fun things to! Have fun with it! You can put your students’ creations up in the hall or around your room!
► Pizza Go-Together Worksheets: These are a great way to reinforce the concept! The student has to draw a line from the category to the 2 objects that go with it. These are great to send home as homework!
► Category Pizza Matching: The student has to draw lines to match the category with its objects. These are great to send home as homework!
