In this work station, students use the caterpillar mat. The student will choose 2 cards to create a 2-digit number (for a more challenging work station, students can choose 3 number cards to create a 3-digit number). The student will write their number in the first circle of the caterpillar using a dry erase marker. Students then choose a task card and complete the caterpillar using the pattern chosen on the task card. I have included blank task cards for you to add your own. This work station was inspired by Debbie Diller's Math Work Stations (Chapter 4).
This packet includes a caterpillar mat (may need multiple copies), number cards (will need multiple copies), and task cards. Simply print, cut and laminate to include in your work station.
