This is one of my favorite science activities because it is engaging and easy to prep! Use this lab to have students explore the scientific method and set up your expectations for completing science activities and labs for the entire year! It's also perfect for beginning of the year STEM!

To prepare the lab select some random objects to place and secure in paper bags, have students write down their observations—detailed notes, drawings, diagrams, and have them draw a conclusion as to what the object is in the bag!

Then have a big reveal and draw connections to the scientific method.

Included in the download are:
-8 bag labels numbered 1-8
-Recording sheet for students to write a description and draw pictures of what they think is in the bag
-Scientific method labels question, research, hypothesis, experiment results, conclusion and recently added...data, observation, and analysis (just use the terms you need!)
-Two versions (one with data and one with results) of a reflection page to draw reflections from this lab as the scientific method is discussed!
