I created this kindness incentive program out of necessity. My students had hit a rough patch in the year where it was seemingly impossible for them to get along...hence the Caught Being Kind program. Students stay on the look out for other students being kind. This would also be a wonderful activity for the beginning of the school year when we really focus on building community in our classrooms. When kindness is spotted students fill out a Caught Being Kind form. Once they have filled in their name, the name of the student being kind, and what they were seen doing they place the completed form in the "Our Class is Full of Kindness" envelope. The teacher can then take out the forms and see what kindness the class has been up to. This item includes cute bird cut-outs for students to write their names on. These cut-outs can then be displayed on a bulletin board in the classroom or hallway. Once the class has the hang of it you can include this activity as an additional incentive program in your classroom. On Friday the teacher can select two forms from the envelope and reward the student who was caught being kind, as well as the student who spotted it. Rewards could be a small prize like a pencil, sticker, notepad, etc. or another incentive like lunch with the teacher, play a favorite game, extra computer time, whatever you wish.
