This game is part of an ELA Game Bundle that you can find at a discounted price in my store!
This is a super easy game to incorporate into your lesson or to use as a reading center! My games require little prep work but valuable skills practice. They will also easily print in black and white.
Objective: Students will determine the cause and/or effect in a given sentence.
Students can work in groups of 2-4 players. You may have 2 students playing against 2 other students or 1 student playing against another student. Having 2 students playing together will allow them the opportunity to discuss the sentences and explain how they determined if the phrase is a cause or effect. This would be beneficial for ELL students or students with special needs and would address the Common Core focus on cooperative learning. Identify one student as Student A and the other as Student B.
There are multiple ways to play this game. Player A and B can play the whole game identifying the cause in every sentence. Player A and B can play a whole game identifying the effect in every sentence. Or Player A and B can play the whole game identifying what portion of every sentence is the cause and which portion is the effect. An answer key is included for students to work independently and easily check their work.
Detailed directions are included for the teacher and student.
I also have other fun Tic-Tac-Toe games for Point of View and Fact and Opinion in my store. Please take a look around. THANKS!
