Product Description

I used this PowerPoint as an opening activity for cause and effect. It was a discussion based activity in which I displayed the first slide of each situation and asked questions such as "What is happening here?" and "What might this event cause?" The students were very engaged and willing to offer descriptions. After several students had the opportunity to make a prediction, I clicked to the next slide and the students put the cause/effect situation into a sentence. For example, they stated "If you drive through a flooded street, then your car might get stuck." I also prompted the students to put it a different way using other signal words, such as "because" or "as a result".
