In our Survival themed quarter, I need to have my students proficient in cause/effect. Students are to analyze and interpret informational text for inferences about cause and effect Therefore, I use an article about Nome Alaska, and how the whole town was almost wiped out- but survived because of sled dogs.
There are a lot of clear cause/effect circumstances in the article, as well as some chain reactions, where an effect becomes a cause of something else.
This lesson plan is complete with standards, goals, differentiation, comments on what students can do, and will be able to do, materials needed, assessment, and of course instructions on how to teach the lesson.
