This week long mini-unit is a great way to cover the "Forgotten War," so often glazed over in history classes. It is designed to look at 4 M.A.I.N. causes of World War I and study each of those with greater depth. The lesson overviews Militarism, Nationalism, and Alliances and goes more in depth through a study of maps in the Imperialism study. This is accomplished in the first lesson. The second less covers the War in 10 events and then provides a really fun review tool - a fictional story that mirrors events of World War I. Students have to draw the parallels. The final lesson begins with a quiz to review the previous 2 lessons and then uses a reading and question and answer review of a somewhat challenging reading over the Treaty of Versailles. Where the unit concludes sets the class up well to move forward and look at the "Rise of the Nazis" (another one of my favorite units which is also for sale if you liked this one). Enjoy!
