Causes of and Events Leading to the American Revolution
In our unit we highlighted the following topics:
The French and Indian War
Sugar and Molasses Acts
Proclamation of 1763
Sons of Liberty
Notable Men of Boston
Boston Tea Party
First Continental Congress
Battles of Lexington and Concord
This packet was made as a unit study for my 3 kids who are elementary and middle school ages. We used the fill-in-the-blank type worksheets, as that works best for them at the moment. There are 8 worksheets. (Answer pages are included.) I also included blank pages instead if you want to cover the same material, but have your students take notes (or do their own research).
American Revolution QR Code Cards: I also made the kids a set of review cards with QR Code reader scans so they can check their answers. If you are in a classroom setting, you could glue the answer to the back of the cards and laminate them for durability. There are 4 pages of American Revolution Question Cards and 4 pages with the QR codes.
There is an interactive notebook page for the great men of Boston (that we used in conjunction with our discussions of the book Johnny Tremain.) That page includes John Hancock, Paul Revere, Patrick Henry, Sam Adams, and John Adams. Students can write their own information on the inside or cut out the brief description provided and glue that to the inside.
There are blank notebook pages on the Battle of Bunker Hill; Second Continental Congress and Declaration of Independence; Washington Crosses the Delaware and Battle of Trenton; Valley Forge; Yorktown. (There are no notes or answer pages provided with these 5 pages.)
Finally, I wrote a play that covers the main events leading to the American Revolution that my kids performed. I have 3 kids, but they played multiple parts. This play could be used with up to about 12 kids playing the different roles. The play itself is about 9 pages. (There are 9 acts... for example Act 1: Parliament Act 2: Reaction to the Stamp Act Act 3: Andrew Oliver's Effigy and Stamp Act Protests... etc.). The play includes descriptions of the props/scenery we made. I included this as a separate pdf file. You will receive both the American Revolution Play and the Causes of the American Revolution Packet with your purchase.
