When I started teaching fourth grade, I tried to come up with a way to make history come alive for them. I came up with Queen Kristina! On the day that I begin the unit, I greet them decked out as a Queen and place a sign up sheet on our class door. Then, as we proceed with the unit, I place more proclamations and newspaper headlines all over our door letting them know what was happening to Boston (our classroom)! They LOVE it every year! I have to say that this is one of the things they probably remember most.
In this folder, I have included:
~Instructions for you on how I use them
~Proclamations ready to be printed
~Newspaper headlines ready to be printed and cut out
*I usually print them all then laminate them for longer use over the years
It took some time coming up with ways to bring history into the classroom, but I think you will love this. I am happy to answer any questions you have! Enjoy!
