“DBQ” stands for “document based question,” but in today’s classrooms, what we often mean by “DBQ” is so much more than that. If used as a teaching tool to help students learn from sources, DBQs can be very powerful!
This DBQ is intended to guide young students to come to their own conclusion about the causes of the French and Indian War. It was written with 5th grade Louisiana Social Studies in mind, but can be used in any 4th - 8th grade classroom.
Included with this DBQ is an implementation guide for teachers and scaffolding questions for students. Everything in the DBQ leads students to a graphic organizer meant to help them prepare for writing an extended response.
