Allow your students an opportunity to unravel some of the mystery of the Stone Age through "Hidden Treasure." They will work through 3 brief but thought-provoking levels to determine if they would be brave enough to explore the Lascaux Caves, why prehistoric people would have made music or how they they would have tried to cure something as common as a headache, the meaning of the word "treasure" and whether or not the discovery of prehistoric cave art qualifies as something equal in value to gold, and finally a link is provided to the official Lascaux website with a virtual tour of the caves and cave art. Level 4 will be the students reporting back to draw what they saw while touring the caves.
Do some preliminary research first so that you can add more to the overall conversation, especially about the creation of cave art, purposes for prehistoric instruments, and why we have found so many Stone Age skulls with holes in the back!
