This curriculum accompanies the book "How to Celebrate Winter Solstice" and is CCS for grades 3-8. You can pick and choose what you like. You can use it as a 1 day or 5 day lesson plan depending on your needs.
Teachers have used the How to Celebrate Winter Solstice paperback and or/ ebook pdf on their smartboards (or laptops) then gave the students the lesson handouts to recap what they learned from the book such as:
• Reading ELA: Winter Solstice Quiz (with answer page) Winter Solstice Vocabulary, Close Reading page, and Lots of Informational Text.
• Writing: Writing a Haiku page, Simple Writing; Reflecting, Visioning exercise
• Math: Geometry Polyhedrons vs. Polygons
• ART: Simple Drawing; Visioning and Illustrating exercise, Making a Winter Solstice Card and Envelope*
