This is an ELA/Social Studies Thematic Unit for Celebrating Black History Month for Grades 2-3. Students will learn about several famous African Americans through Bio Poems, a Subject Poem, a 5W Poem, and 2 Biographies. They will also write several poems about African Americans and a Biography using graphic organizers. A U.S. and World map are provided for students to locate where these African Americans were born and lived. There are 2 sets of Picture/Fact cards about famous African Americans at the 2nd and 3rd grade levels and 4 Writing Prompts including an Information Text and 3 Opinion Pieces. ELA CCSS are included in the first few pages.
