This pack has been one that I have used in my classroom for many years. I wanted to update it since it is a staple of mine. It is great for kids in the primary grades, and I have differentiated the lines on the writing pages to make it easier for the lower grades.
What students will do is draw a picture of what they would give their friend. It can be anything that they would like to give them (I had a Kindergartener one time who gave EVERY student in the class "The sun, the moon, and the stars." She is now in her 20's so this shows how long I have been using this in my room). After their picture, they will write about what they drew. For first grade, I start with having the kids write 2 sentences. As we go through the year, I increase their writing to either 3 or 4 sentences depending on the class.
I make these into books for my kids. They also get a children's book, a sticker and a crown for their birthday.
