This is a great quick, formative or summative project for students to get a feel for the parts of a cell and how they work. They are to choose between comparing a plant or animal cell to a mall, city, or school, and must work with a partner or group to come up with analogies that make sense. After they have planned their analogies, they will draw their chosen analogy (mall, city, or school) on a large piece of paper (butcher paper or poster board) to demonstrate their understanding of each part of the cell.
Fully editable! I have also had students come up with other creative analogies like factories or the airport. The possibilities are endless! This could also be used as a performance assessment.
