Students are engaged and differentiation is easy and painless when you let your students have a say in what they learn through these Cell Choice Boards! Presented in a variety of formats (Tic-Tac-Toe, choice boards, and a cell menu), these assignments allow students to pick from a variety of assignments. Each board has simple review assignments (Make a Venn diagram comparing prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells) and more advanced creative assignments (create a brochure for a cell amusement park where each organelle is a different attraction). Simple differentiation can happen through giving a Tic-Tac-Toe board instead of a choice board, or giving some students a 3x3 board while others get a 4x4 board.
This activity could not be more simple- it is completely ready to use! The pack includes:
-A 1 page teaching guide with suggestions for implementing your choice assignments
-2 sets of 3x3 grids and 4x4 grids (each set includes a Tic-Tac-Toe, where assignments are chosen in a straight line, and a Cell Choice board with the same activities, where any 3 or 4 assignments are chosen)
-A cell choice menu, where students choose an "appetizer", "entree", and "dessert"
-A generic rubric, good for any of the assignments
Completing the assignments usually takes between 3 and 5 days, depending on the level of your students and the length of your class periods. This is a GREAT review and wrap-up for a cells and organelles unit!
