I created a BINGO review game for the Cell Cycles unit. The game includes the following concepts and more: Mitosis, Mieosis, Interphase, Prophase, Metaphase, Anaphase, Telophase, Cytokinesis, Cancer, Spindle Fibers, etc. This review has a total of 60 questions on it.
The BINGO review works as follows:
Students would pick a review question number and I would then read the clue from that number. The students had to answer the question correctly in order to be able to mark it off on their BINGO card. To allow for more questions and more concepts to review, many words were used multiple times. I distinguished those on the BINGO cards by putting a number next to the vocabulary word or concept (Mitosis 1, Mitosis 2, etc). The students were only able to mark off the word if it was also the correct number.
Students loved the review game and it kept them engaged throughout the class. I would proivde small prizes for the students who earned a BINGO and typically played multiple BINGOs on each card.
To get the BINGO cards, simply go to the following website: http://bingo.saksena.net/bingo
Then copy and paste the vocabulary words and concepts into the word/phrases box. You can customize your BINGO cards. I typically did 2 cards per page and gave each student a page with those 2 cards. Be sure to print enough different versions so that students don't have the same card.
The game was always a lot of fun and students requested to play it for each unit. I would then give students a copy of the review questions with the answers at the end of class so they had an extra page to review for the exam.
**Some of the questions are to show a picture of the concept for the students to name. I would have those ready on a PowerPoint and pull them up when the students picked that question number.
