The Cell Cycle Cut and Sort Activity is an effective and engaging way to introduce your students to the cell cycle. In this lesson, students cut out the stages, drawings, and descriptions for interphase, all the phases of mitosis, and cytokinesis. Then they put the stages in order and match the drawings and descriptions with each step. Lastly, they work together to write a summary paragraph that clearly explains the steps of the cell cycle. This lesson was a big hit with my students because it got them to talk and interact with one another as they were learning.
