After introducing Cell Division (IPMAT) with a lesson about the Cell Cycle students should then have to complete a "Check for Understanding" activity. In this activity you ask students to construct a poster. No specific details are provided to allow students choice; but you do hand them a set of key words as provided. It will be the student’s responsibility to draw an example of each term, glue the appropriate label next to the image, and to define why the image corresponds with the specified term.
This will serve as an opportunity for students to create, facilitators to formatively assess and everyone to participate in an ongoing conversation related to Mitosis.
Note: Each sheet has 4 sets poster labels; one set per student/poster. Advise students that they must use all terms to earn full credit.
