Cell Metaphor Poster Project by Miss Middle School Teacher
This is a fun and easy way for students to learn about the parts of the cell and incorporate some literacy! Students turn a cell into a metaphor and create a poster displaying the connections they've made.
We always start by completing an example as a class. I say, "A Cell is a School! If this is true, our principal is the nucleus because she controls what goes on in the building. Who protects her? What would our nuclear membrane be?" Together, we fill out a cell metaphor log for each of the main cell parts we've learned. I then introduce the project to students and let them go with it. They love it and come up with some very creative ideas!
Included: cell metaphor project instructions and grading checklist, student project planning sheet.
