This activity has multiple parts. First, students will compare a cell and its organelles to a city and its parts. Then, groups of students will create their own model to compare a cell to (i.e. a mall, an airport, Santa's workshop, an amusement park, etc.). They must draw comparisons for each cell organelle its function. I have done this activity for the last 3 years and have seen significant improvement of cell organelle function understanding over what I had when I did not do this activity.
