Students will form groups and produce a physical model of their organelle, write and copy a fact sheet to distribute to their classmates, and present their research to their class! This project takes about one week to complete.
As a teacher, I have found this to be the best activity to teach organelles. My students love to build things and I find they really learn how their organelles work together with other organelles while listening to other students’ presentations. I give them time in class to work on it, but they must bring in their own materials on the working day(s). The whole project takes about a week. In the document I include more teacher tips and a sample teaching schedule. This product contains a complete grading rubric that I like to use in my class, but because most teachers like to edit and customize their own rubric, I am choosing to sell this project and rubric as a word document that teachers can edit and customize for their own needs.
