Overview: This activity includes both animal and plant cell foldables. These foldables are used to teach students the structure and functions of plant and animal cell organelles. The students are required to identify and color the organelles on each tab of the foldable using a color key provided. Fill-in-the-blank notes for each organelle are included under each tab for students to complete as well. After the foldable is complete, each tab has a specific organelle colored. When the student opens that tab, they see the name of that colored organelle as well as the function. This is a great interactive way to learn, reinforce, review and retain the structure and functions of cellular structures. I have included two levels of notes for each foldable for differentiation purposes. Level 1 notes are more basic with not as much detail. Level 1 notes might be appropriate for middle school students or lower-level biology students. Level 2 notes are more detailed/advanced and are probably more appropriate for biology students. After students complete the foldables, they can use them to quiz themselves or their peers on identifying structures and functions. If you use science notebooks in your class, have your students glue these foldables in there interactive notebooks so they can return to them as needed for review and reference throughout the year. A key is provided for each level of both the plant and animal cell foldables.
