A jigsaw that can be used to introduce the important organelles found in prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells. The activity currently covers 12 cell structures, including but not limited to the nucleus, plasma membrane, and ribosomes. Students are asked to work in pairs where one is considered the artist and the other a researcher. The artist will make a model of the cell part while the researcher will "take the notes" regarding its function & other important information. Once they have completed the assignment, they are asked to present to their classmates who will be responsible for taking notes as if it was the teacher giving the lecture. The page numbers included are from the Miller & Levine Biology textbook, 2010 edition. This assignment can be easily modified to work with any textbook! Depending on your schedule, this lesson could be completed in two 50-minute periods. Thanks for visiting the "Up and Atom" store!
