Product Description
These fun game cards can be used in many ways for learning the names and functions of cell parts. There are 49 game cards – 3 for each of the 16 cell parts - plus one “Old Maid “ card. There is a name card, a function card, and a picture card for each cell part.

Option #1: Memory

Have students lay the cards face down and take turns trying to find all three matching cards (name, function, picture) or, to make an easier game, you can have students match only two of the three cards.

Option #2 Old Maid

Play like the familiar card game (yes, there’s an “Old Maid” included in the set).

Option #3 Word Sort

Use this before you begin teaching as a word sorting pre-assessment for older students who may already have had some instruction on cell organelles. Or use it as a quick review after a school break.

Option #4 Reading Guide Activity

Have students match the three cards as they read in their textbook about cell parts. Use all or just some of the cards, depending on your grade level. Extra blank cards are included in case you want students to know a description/function that is worded differently than the one in the set. Just add a text box to one of the provided blank cards and insert your own description.

Option #5 Test Review

Assign students to pairs and have them find the matching trio, consulting their textbook or notes to prompt them with the organelles that they can’t remember. Or check them out for students who want to study at home.

Option #6 Substitute Lesson or Sponge Activity

This is a great game set to keep on hand for an unexpected substitute day or for those assembly schedules or other interruptions that leave you with ragged time in one or more classes.

Teacher Tip: Put matching stickers on the back of each card in a set before laminating, so that you can quickly separate mixed up sets.

*** I recommend that you print the card set on card stock and laminate for better durability.***
