Description
The Life Science Interactive Notebook: Cell Processes & Energy chapter showcase student’s ability to:
- Describe where plants get the energy needed to produce food
- Recognize the overall equation for photosynthesis and cellular respiration
- Explain the role of sunlight and chlorophyll in photosynthesis
- Identify two types of fermentation
- Identify and describe the structure of DNA
- Explain the process of DNA replication
- Describe the main events of the cell cycle and the four phases of mitosis
- Understand how the cell cycle is regulated
- Differentiate cancer cells from other cells
Each activity enables students to process the information given by the teacher then allows them to use self-direction to apply their new knowledge. The engaging activities always vary in order for all students to use and benefit from different learning styles. Activities included correlating with the Next Generation Science Standards.
Cell Processes & Energy includes the following chapters:
- Photosynthesis
- Cellular Respiration
- Cell Cycle
- Mitosis
- DNA Structure and Replication
- Control System of a Cell
Activities include:
- Photosynthesis interactive model with cut-outs of stomata, chloroplasts and movement of water, carbon dioxide and oxygen
- Compare and contrast photosynthesis and cellular respiration – equations, reactants, products, occurs in which organelle, advantages and disadvantages
- Cell cycle diagram showcasing steps of interphase (cell growth, DNA replication, preparation for mitosis) then mitosis, or cell division then cytokinesis
- Phases of Mitosis featuring four accordion foldables which have students match descriptions with illustrations of prophase, metaphase, anaphase, and telophase
- DNA Structure that is a manipulative showing DNA replication that shows breakdown of deoxyribose nucleic acid, phosphate group, and nitrogen bases: guanine, adenine, thymine, cytosine
- Make a brochure: Protect Yourself from Skin Cancer
Each concept shares:
- Actual photos of both the INPUT and OUTPUT pages of Science Interactive Notebook
- Instructions on how to create/use/complete activity for OUTPUT side
- Mini-Quizzes for each concept to check students’ understanding
- Answer Keys for all mini-quizzes
- Appendix with Teacher Notes for Interactive Notebook in LARGE print.
This download is perfect for:
- Distance learning
- Independent learners
