This resource contains my 3 station cell activities for students exploring the difference between prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells. This activity normally takes 3-4 days in my classroom but can be modified to be quicker or longer depending on the needs of your classroom.
Station 1: Students use microscopes to examine the difference between plant and animal cells and includes a cheek swab activity using affordable materials and slides that students put together themselves in order to examine their own cheek cells under a microscope.
Station 2: My Art Cell Activity
that can be found separately in my store. This activity has students research and answer 5 questions about a cell of their choice (list of cells provided) and then watercolor or paint their chosen cell with detailed labels of the organelles. In my classroom, I used heavy duty construction paper for the watercolors and then had the students type up their answer to the questions on a word document that was then printed and glued beneath their paintings. We then hung these posters up for conferences.
Station 3: My Prokaryotic vs Eukaryotic Cell Packet with Answer Key
which can be found separately in my store. This is a packet of questions on prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells that can be used in conjunction with a step by step Prezi I created that walks students through various online resources such as instructional videos, articles and online educational games to help them answer the questions in the packet. This prezi can be downloaded and modified for your classroom or the packet can be used in conjunction with your textbook with very little modification (all 3 station worksheets are in word document form so you are able to modify and tailor to your student's needs).
1 page of teachers notes with instructions and helpful tips for each station
A pre-assessment on cells with answer key
Printable expectations posters for the art and microscope lab as a visual reminder for students
