This is a handout created to accompany the virtual lab on cell transport provided by Glenco (http://www.glencoe.com/sites/common_assets/science/virtual_labs/LS03/LS03.html).
This activity requires students to apply the parts of the scientific method using this online virtual lab. The activity requires students to conduct background research, formulate a hypothesis, follow procedures, collect data, analyze their results and formulate conclusions.
While the virtual lab by Glencoe itself if very helpful, I have found that adding this activity and worksheet with it ties directly into the application and use of the scientific method. I also use this activity as a precursor to writing full lab reports.
In order to conserve paper, this activity was formatted to fit on one page, but can be adjusted to fit to two pages, allowing students room to write their constructed responses on the page itself if desired. (I typically have my students collect the data on the page itself and write their constructed responses on loose leaf and attach).
