Use this pre-assessment/anticipation guide to uncover misconceptions your students may have about cells and cell processes. Then use what you’ve learned about which students have which misconceptions to guide your cell unit planning.
At the end of the unit, use the provided student reflection handout to give students a chance to revisit their thinking, and write about how their understanding has changed.

The questions were based on research done by the American Association For the Advancement of Science on student misconceptions in science, and on my own three decades of experience teaching science.
