This is a Word document in open notes (fill-in-the-blank) format. The teacher's KEY is included. It is 4-pages long and includes information on prokaryotic (bacterial), animal and plant cells. An introduction to organelles is included. Full-color, loads of pictures, comprehensive = total student engagement.
I give each student a copy of these open notes. I project the open notes onto the Promethean Board (or any board using a projector). I use my KEY to fill-in-the-blanks with the students. This will take an entire 50-minute class. Once the open notes are complete, I give them several assignments based on the notes. The first assignment is the Cells Open Notes Worksheet (sold under separate cover) which uses the open notes for the answers - in order. No tricks or surprises. The students love that they don't have to search an entire 4-page document for one answer. This is introductory, so it is expected that they don't know/remember much of this information; therefore, the assignment that goes along with the open notes is relatively easy, yet they're learning and reinforcing information at the same time. The second assignment I give is a homework assignment - it's FREE in my TpT store - called Organelle Word Association and Cells Match. Check it out!
