This unit is designed to help teachers show students that cells are the building blocks of the body, making tissues which create organs. The unit is aligned to NGSS standard MS-LS-1-3. It begins by explaining in more depth how cells form tissues. There are several resources that will help students understand the different types of tissue and what they form. This unit ends with the organization of the human body, a perfect segway for teachers into the body’s organ systems as a future unit. Here are the resources you will find:
*Phenomena recommendations to start the unit
*Article and questions about how cells make tissues - includes questions for students and a key for teachers
*Graphic organizer about the four types of tissue - includes teacher and student version
*Graphic organizer for the three types of muscle tissue - includes teacher and student version
*Graphic organizer for the levels of organization in the human body - includes teacher and student version
