This game is designed to familiarize students with the reactants and products involved in the three stages of cellular respiration. This activity is great after initial exposure to cellular respiration content, and it can be used to reinforce content, as a review game, as a classroom station, and for remediation. The powerpoint includes instructions for the players, templates of food for playing pieces (because the food provides the body with glucose), ATP money templates (in both bill and coin form, can be printed, copied, and laminated as desired), background for the game board that can be enlarged (or a talented student can draw, I've done it both ways), Sample pictures, pictures of the playing spaces (can be printed and copied to put on the board background), suggestions for what to write on the playing spaces, and templates for playing cards (can be printed, copied, and laminated as desired). While this lesson includes templates and instructions, there is some set-up required, so plan ahead. In the past my students have been successful at playing independently while I worked with classmates at a different station. However, it is a good idea to monitor the game and asking questions to check for understanding.
