Students must develop their own lab to prove plants break down food to release energy in the dark. Students are given flasks, plants, BTB, straws, stoppers, etc. and they must design their own test (with a control) to prove plants go through cellular respiration in the dark by proving plants produce carbon dioxide in the dark. Can be used with the Photosynthesis Design your Own Lab by splitting the class in two and having 1/2 do cellular respiration and 1/2 do photosynthesis. Students must also design their own data table.
