Have students measure items of your choosing in both inches and centimeters in order to compare the units. Not only will your students practice measuring to the nearest whole or half unit (depends on what items you choose), but this fun activity can make coming to the conclusion that a centimeter is a smaller unit of measure more meaningful to your students.
