Need help teaching your students how to determine the central idea of a text. LOOK HERE!!!
The unit includes:
- Graphic organizer to help students figure out how to determine the central idea using key words from the text (all explained in the teacher notes)
- A paper outline to show students how to formulate their findings into a coherent paper
- An example paper using the "I Have a Dream Speech" that has an introduction and two body paragraphs. I don't use "Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death" because students plagiarize really bad.
- The final sheet is the rubric for the paper. (The rubric is NOT the TN Ready rubric, but feel free to use that instead).
This is a great way to help your students learn the central idea of a text without it being overwhelming. Let me know what questions you may have before you buy!
