From Electric English...
This is a fresh, clean copy of Cesar Chavez's, "Commonwealth Club Address"; however, this portion is only paragraphs 22-29 of 29. It is the speech he gave in 1984 and discusses the plight of migrant laborers, and how important the UFW is for their cause.
The ideals Chavez espouses pair very well with all different types of literature. From poetry to novels to documentaries about other activists, his unflagging support of an oppressed people shines through. I always thoroughly enjoy teaching this, and the students typically enjoy it to. Its message still resonates today and brings up so many current and relevant issues. Enjoy!
