PPT in PDF format for Chac Mool to review and discuss elements found in the story. Students use the text of the story to support their ideas. Great exercise to promote critical thinking and make connections to the ancient civilization of the Mayas.
I have also added a Carlos Fuentes Web quest in PDF format. I like for students to learn about the author prior to reading the short story. Can be used in class if students have tablets or a computer lab or it can be assigned for HW.
Good pair-share activity. Students work with a partner and then share their opinions with another two students. Fun way to motivate students to speak in the target language.
To further enhance the lesson I have students select eight events in the story and create a story board with brief summaries for each event.
