This is a powerpoint lesson on using a chain of event diagram. It follows a I do-We do-You do teaching model for gradual release of responsibility. First few slides describe the chain of event diagram and how it could be helpful in many ways.
I do- "Ms. Huberty's Morning" I stop the lesson and tell students about my awful morning.. Forgot to set my alarm, woke up late, rushed getting ready, speeding to work, got pulled over. After the laughs, I go through and put my morning into the diagram step by step. You can make this your own but my students really enjoyed my story... whether or not it is true..they will never know :)
You do- Now students read together about an event. I gave them every other chain link so they fill in the events using the clue I gave on the slide
We do- Students work individually to read about a new event filling in 5 events in order in their chain of events diagram.
