Challenge Projects are designed as differentiated enrichment for students who are motivated to extend their learning experiences, to work beyond the classroom requirements, and/or to explore alternative topics.
Challenge Projects are designed for a range of grade levels, often with the more complex and mature themes coming toward the middle to the end of the options. Some of the Challenge Projects are developed to offer several “should do’s” and then numerous “can do” options.
Playground Design offers ten sequential tasks and six optional activities. Much of this Challenge Project focuses on mathematical concepts such as area, perimeter, and scale, but also includes research, survey taking and analysis, observation, decision-making, synthesis of data, creativity, and problem-solving.
