This is a great way to engage students in learning prefixes, suffixes, and root words.
In each lesson there are 10 prefixes, suffixes, and root words that students will focus on. Each lesson contains a word list, 4 square vocabulary graphic organizer for each word, and 2 assessments. Also included are the answer keys to each assessment.
I have also added two different covers that are EDITABLE.
When I implement this into my room, I either add them to a binder, folder or bound them. We go over the list the first day.
Then students work on the vocabulary graphic organizer during word work time (Daily 5, Centers, or when they are finished with other work).
Then I assess students every two weeks. It is important to let students know that they need to be looking for these in reading and using them in their writing. If you have a class economy you can give out extra money to those students who see them in the books they are reading.
You could also make an interactive word board, where students add words they find using the prefixes, suffixes, and root words in the lesson.
