These stations give students a fun way to practice the changes in states of matter (freezing, melting, sublimation, condensation, and vaporization). The stations test students' knowledge by having them define, provide examples of, draw, and explain each of the five changes in states of matter listed above.
Whenever students get up and move around the room they are more motivated, work harder, and have a greater focus on the material (especially during long block classes). Middle school students love stations and, once implemented in classrooms, often request them. Stations are a great alternative to worksheets while still accomplishing student practice with content. In addition, you save time and paper by not having to make hundreds of copies of a worksheet. Stations allow teachers to provide extra assistance to ELL and SPED students. Thorough directions for use are provided in the document.
In this resource you will find twenty-two stations, two teacher information pages, blank station cards (so you can easily add stations), a two page copy of the stations for individual students, and a complete key.
