What educators are saying

I heard about this resource from a blog (I think) and it did not disappoint. I like all the different options students can choose from. Students loved to create their house(s).

Explore families with the "My Home" glyph activity, perfect for a Changing Families or divorce school counseling group. This activity includes a suggested glyph key, 3 different houses, and 18 clip art images to represent various family members who may be living in a student's home. All images are in color, and it may be necessary to print in color to demonstrate the different family members represented.

I have used this activity mainly with Changing Families or Banana Splits lunch groups, and I typically pair it with a book about families. It would also work in individual counseling sessions, and as an activity for whole classroom lessons on families & diversity. Utilize this activity to build relationships and create connectedness for students with peers.

Upon completion, display the completed glyphs on a bulletin board. The colorful houses make for a vibrant display, and students get a great visual representation that all homes are different, and that is okay!
