Included in this set are five activities designed to meet the NGSS second grade standards for changing matter:
-Make observations to construct an evidence-based account of how an object made of a small set of pieces can be disassembled and made into a new object.
-Construct an argument with evidence that some changes caused by heating or cooling can be reversed and some cannot.
The labs and activities included are as follows:
-What happens when we heat water?
-What happens when we freeze water?
-Cooking Up Science
-Georges Seurat Connection
All of the labs are hands-on and second grade friendly. The labs require some materials, but most of them are common classroom objects. One lab requires materials to bake cookies. The labs can be completed in groups, individually, in pairs, or as a whole group depending on your specific classroom needs. Each lab includes the materials needed, directions, and reflection questions. Some labs also have activity sheets where needed.
