This colorful flip chart takes students through steps to change mixed numbers to improper fractions and then improper fractions to mixed numbers. First it defines and gives examples of mixed numbers and improper fractions. Next, two examples are modeled for changing mixed numbers. Students are asked to tell a neighbor how to complete the skill. With a partner, students work to changed six fractions. Next knowledge is accessed through a likert scale and three more problems are offered if needed. After that, the pattern repeats with changing improper fractions. Teacher may find answers to questions by changing the background color. This may be done as one lesson or two.
