This is an excellent activity to give students practice changing slope and y-intercepts of given linear equations.
The matching activity consists of 16 problems where you match their equation with corresponding changes to slope and/or y-intercept, description of the line change (steep/less steep and/or shift up/down), and the graph. Answer key included.
Also included is a homework handout with 10 problems where students practice similar skills developed during the matching activity. Answer key included.
A note outline is included to help students generalize the rules for how making changes to slope and y-intercept affects the line. A blank outline is available for students as well as a version with the information filled in outline for the teacher.
Two sets of directions are included with this activity. One is a more teacher guided approach and the other lends itself well to inquiry.
