Usually, I would give my students a standard book report that ultimately failed to excite and engage them! I created this Character Analysis Book Talk, which has students critically examine one character (usually the protagonist) from their independent reading novel. They think about the character's personality to accurately depict him/her. The students then get into groups and share their analysis of their characters. It helps the students to not only analyze a character, but to also engage their classmates.
My students truly enjoyed this activity! :) I attached my model to the beginning of the PowerPoint, which can be erased when assigning it to the students. I wanted to make sure a model was present.
