Our digital footprint reveals much about us. In fact, the kinds of things we type into a search engine are often questions we are afraid to reveal to others. Therin, search engines have become just as revealing as the entry in a diary. This activity asks students to think abstractly about the kinds of things a character might type into a search engine and consider which websites or articles they may land on. Students must reinforce their choices with cited textual evidence and justify their reasoning. If you want to challenge your students to get more creative, delve deep into analysis and implement technology into their learning, this activity hits the mark.
I like to upload this activity as a Google Slides presentation so my students can complete it digitally and share. If you have limited access to technology, feel free to delete the text boxes and print paper copies to hand out!
