This power point presentation is designed as a discovery activity to help students understand 4 character archetypes (hero, anti-hero, villain, and mentor). Using examples from popular movies, video games, and cartoons, students will categorize characters based on similar characteristics and identify a name that appropriately represents the shared traits of each group. The included (editable) examples are accessible for a variety of students, and the lesson could easily be adapted to accommodate different age groups and interests. It was originally designed for middle school students, but it could also work with a high school audience.
The power point is designed to be used in conjunction with a corresponding document entitled "Character Archetypes Discovery Activity," which is available for free in my store. This discovery activity can segue into a discussion of the archetype definitions, and the "Character Archetype Notes" document is also available as a follow-up resource in my store.
