This lesson is to teach how to keep track of characters and how to note and keep track of character change in a text or in a play. This lesson can work with virtually any text or play.
This is a 3 page lesson plan and a 3 page handout for students (or you can print it and use it as your overhead).
The lesson plan itself is incredibly detailed. It even includes the expected responses to the do-now question. Also, the lesson is COMMON CORE ALIGNED and includes modifications if you are teaching in a classroom with special needs.
The handout is a student friendly version of the lesson plan. It includes the independent reading / reading log focus for the day (should you opt to use it), the aim, the do-now, a little organizer and space for the do-now response, the key points from the mini-lesson (including definitions, etc), the pivotal questions for the day, the instructions and graphic organizers for the activities, and even the summation.
I hope you thoroughly enjoy this lesson and the handouts (which I always use as overheads). Enjoy!
